The River of Life flows through her domain. We are reminded that every living creature that comes into the world is born of the Mother. The Empress provides us with the powers to live and multiply, to give full expression to our dreams and our creative potential, and to appreciate the essential harmony and well-being associated with the deepest and most profound levels of existence.

The High
Priestess sits on a throne located between two temple columns -- the black
column of Boaz, representing negative life force, an the white column of
Jachin, symbolizing positive life force. These are the two pillars of King
Solomons Temple and remind us of the historical connection between the Tarot,
Freemasonry and the Kabbalah.
The High Priestess wears a silver
crown showing the crescents of the waxing and waning moon, with the full orb in
the centre. A long cloke of blue and white flows down her shoulders to the
floor and seems then to become like a shimmering stream.
On her breast the High Priestess
wears a solar cross that unifies male and female energies, and across her lap
rests the scroll of sacred memory inscribed with the word "Torah",
meaning Law. In an archetypal sense, the High Priestess represents Divine
Intuition.

Red roses, representing desire and passion, form into a bower above his head and intermingle in the foreground with white lilies, symbolizing pure abstract thought.
Around his waist, the Magician wears the alchemical symbol of *ouroboros* -- the snake of eternity devouring its own tail. In an archetypal sense, the Magician represents Divine Will.

The Fool is the eternal youth, *puer aetermus*, and he we seem him about to step off a cliff into the abyss below. In his left hand he carries a white rose representing spiritual desire, and in his right hand a staff or wand. Dangling from the end of the staff is a little bag or wallet containing the four elements -- Fire, Water, Earth and Air.
